King Of The Hill Reboot: Greg Daniels Confirms The Plan Is For A Time Jump

Greg Daniels has clarified the reports about an upcoming King of the Hill revival, telling fans to temper their expectations--the show isn't confirmed to be happening yet. That being said, Daniels went on to say that the current plan, should the show get made, is to pick up the story 15 years after the finale.

Daniels told Collider of the show's prospects, "We don't have a deal to do it. I'm not exactly sure if we phrased it wrong, maybe, but it's still not 100%."

Daniels went on to say that no contracts have been signed yet for the new King of the Hill, and timing is also an issue. Daniels and co-creator Mike Judge are very busy at their new production company Bandera, with multiple other big projects in the works.

"We had the idea floating around that we pitched a while ago, and I think we need to figure out how we would do it well and who would do it with us because we're both pretty busy," he said of himself and Judge.

Judge himself voiced Hank Hill in the original King of the Hill, with Kathy Najimy voicing Peggy Hill, Pamela Adlon as Bobby Hill, Johnny Hardwick as Dale, Stephen Root as Bill, and Brittany Murphy as Luanne.

While the show isn't a lock just yet, Daniels confirmed that the rumors of a time jump for the new series are true, at least that's the current plan. "The idea is a time jump, yeah, so the characters are a bit older," he said.

King of the Hill ran for 13 seasons and 259 episodes, stretching from 1997-2010. A reboot of the show has been rumored for years.
