The latest dinosaur thriller makes big dino-dollars.

After 25 years and five movies, the Jurassic Park/World series shows no signs of flagging. The latest dinosaur thriller, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, hit US theaters this weekend and opened with big numbers. The movie has already been out in Europe for two weeks, but mixed reviews did nothing to dent its popularity at the box office.

According to Box Office Mojo, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom made an estimated $150 million in its first three days, which although below the $208.8 million opening for 2015's Jurassic World, is still an impressive result. Combined with the $561 million of international receipts, Fallen Kingdom has to date made $711.5 million worldwide.

This also marks only the second time in box office history that two different movies have made more than $100 million on consecutive weekends. Last week, Pixar's Incredibles 2 had a stunning $182 million debut. The only other time two movies have performed this well consecutively was in 2007, when Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Shrek the Third both crossed the $100 million mark over two weekends.

Incredibles 2 slipped into second place this week, but still made a massive $80.9 million. The movie has now made $350 million in US, which not only makes it Pixar's fourth biggest movie, but also places it within the top 10 most successful animated movies ever.

With no other big releases this weekend, the rest of the box office top 10 remained much the same as last week. The only other new title was the Mr Rogers documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor?, which expanded its release and moved up from last week's No.15. The heist comedy Ocean's Eight continued its strong run and slipped down one place to No.3. The movie had a more modest budget than many of its big summer rivals, but has now crossed the $100 million mark. Elsewhere, the superhero sequels Deadpool 2 and Avengers: Infinity War continued to make money at No.5 and No.9, while the horror hit Hereditary remained stationary at No.7.
