John Cena Comments On The Rock/Vin Diesel Beef: "There Can Only Be One"

With The Rock and Vin Diesel squashing their beef, does that open a return for more team-ups?

Last year, the ongoing feud between Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Vin Diesel seemingly ended last year when Johnson shocked Fast and Furious fans by appearing as Luke Hobbs in the Fast X mid-credits scene. Diesel had originally asked Johnson to come aboard back in 2021 to join the 10th installment of the long-running action franchise, but Johnson seemingly turned it down. It was a surprising ruse.

John Cena, who has also co-starred in the franchise, addressed the rumors concerning Johnson and Diesel on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast (via People). The WWE icon and action star said there were rumors but understood why. "There's certainly rumors about that. I can't deny that," Cena said. "You have two very alpha, driven people. You get two, there can only be one."

Cena was enlisted into the Fast family in F9: The Fast Saga as Jakob Toretto, the estranged brother of Diesel’s Dom Toretto. Cena said his early days in WWE prepared him to keep his head down and learn from more experienced players.

"You gotta remember I got dropped into a locker room where [we have] generational vets," Cena explained. "'What'd your dad do?' 'Wrestle.' 'What'd your granddad do?' 'Wrestle.' I've been in that environment; know the room and just kind of adapt to what’s going on."

Cena went on to add on how he was accepted into the franchise later on and how the movie series is such a rare feat.

"I'm being invited into someone's home, into someone's family. And regardless of how they look physically in comparison to another human being, this is one IP that has had nine installments and it's an action movie--that's rarefied air," Cena continued. "At the very least, there has to be respect for that."

Both Johnson and Cena appeared at last weekend's Wrestlemania 40 in Philadelphia and will presumably return for the final entry for the main Fast series which is scheduled for release on April 4, 2025.
