Japan's Nintendo Indie World Stream Had The Switch Release Date Of A Great Co-Op Game

The game was first released on PC.

The Japanese version of April 2024's Nintendo Indie World showcase included the release of a great game that wasn't in the North American one.

The game is Bread & Fred, a co-op platformer that follows two brother penguins as they try to reach the top of a snowy summit. It was first released on PC last year, but is now launching on Nintendo Switch on May 23. Two players can grab a Joy-Con in order to navigate the treacherous mountain. There's also a new character named Pol the Polar Bear and he hosts time trial-challenges for Bread and Fred to participate in.

Nintendo sometimes has different versions of their Direct presentations depending on region, and this one was no exception. A new Crayon Shin-chan game was revealed during the February 2021 Japanese Direct, and people were wondering if it was going to be released overseas, which it eventually was. During the February 2024 Japanese Direct, the RPG Reynatis was revealed, only for a separate localization announcement to occur days later.

However, Bread & Fred is a strange case given that it's not a Japanese game at all, and would've fit perfectly in with the North American version of the April 2024 Nintendo Indie World showcase.
