The latest Japanese software sales rankings from Media Create paint a familiar picture. For the week of August 14-20, New Super Mario Bros. once again claimed the top spot, leading the way for a week dominated by Nintendo. The Big N published seven of the 10 games on the charts. The Nintendo DS accounted for the top five games. The PlayStation 2 and PSP only managed to place one game each at the top of the charts.

The PS2 game, Daitogiken Koushiki Pachisuro Simulator Hihouden, simulates a popular slot machine, and moved enough copies to debut at number six on the charts. Meanwhile Bandai's SD Gundam G Generation Portable continued to represent the PSP on the Media Create list, finding its way to the number nine position.

Very few new games made it into the top 100 titles the week of August 14-20, and week-on-week sales dropped by about 140,000 units. Media Create notes this was expected, as these charts cover the week following the O-bon summer holidays.
