DC's second chance at bringing their infamous Suicide Squad to big screens is just over the horizon. Director James Gunn's take on the supervillains-turned-antiheroes will be hitting HBO Max and theaters in August, and leading up to the film's release, Gunn has been sharing details in interviews and on social media.

Most recently, Gunn shared a tweet to showcase two new images from the movie. Take a look.

The images seem to coincide with moments glimpsed in the movie's initial trailers, including a rain-soaked march for Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Thinker (Peter Capaldi), Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Peacemaker (John Cena), and Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman). The second image additionally features Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian) and Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior).

Gunn also spoke with Entertainment Weekly for the release of the stills, where he called the movie a "war-caper" complete with "sh---y superheroes."

The film will feature the Squad being sent to a fictional country called Corto Maltese, where their mission is to disrupt the process of an alien takeover by none other than Starro, a giant mind-controlling starfish villain from DC comics history. At least one of the Squad's members is going to be surviving--Cena's Peacemaker is spinning off into a TV show headed to HBO Max in 2022. The longevity of the rest of the cast, however, may not look so good.

The Suicide Squad will release on HBO Max and in theaters on August 9.
