Jake Gyllenhaal Says "It Would Be An Honor" To Play Batman

The Road House actor apparently came close to landing the role in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy.

He's been the prince of Persia and Mysterio, but could Jake Gyllenhaal be the next Batman? Well, the Road House star seems open to the idea of portraying Bruce Wayne, at the very least.

ScreenRant asked Gyllenhaal about his interest in playing Batman after watching him in the Road House remake. He began his response noting it's a "classic" role that's been portrayed by "other incredible actors." The actor then ended with: "But of course. It would be an honor, always."

Robert Pattinson is currently the man behind the cowl and will reprise the role in The Batman 2, which was recently delayed to 2026. However, this franchise from director Matt Reeves is not the main canon for the DC film universe going forward and instead part of DC Elseworlds. It was previously reported that The Flash director Andy Muschietti is set to helm The Brave and the Bold for DC Studios. This will introduce the new Batman for a DC reset that begins theatrically next year with Superman from writer-director James Gunn.

As such, Gyllenhaal could be a possible contender for Batman in The Brave and the Bold. This wouldn't be the first time he's been linked to The World's Greatest Detective, either. People reported last year that Gyllenhaal was close to landing the lead role in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins, a part that ultimately went to Christian Bale.

Next up for Gyllenhaal is Road House, which will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on March 21. He stars in the remake with Daniela Melchior and Conor McGregor.
