It's a Sony/Nintendo World

The NPD Group announced its Top 20 Interactive Games list, which offers a few surprises. While rental data suggests that the N64 is the superior platform, sales figures according to NPD indicate otherwise. Consoles too, dominate the Top 20, which is a list of both PC and console games.

Final Fantasy VII on the PlayStation debuts on the list at number one, giving GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64 a second-place position. Locking 11 titles on the Top 20, the PlayStation's library remains the leader in software sales.

It is interesting to note, however, that Nintendo first-party titles are at the top of the N64 mountain. The only third-party title to get into the top 20 is Ocean's MRC.

Nintendo titles have performed strongly sales-wise much longer and consistently than PlayStation games, with even Super Mario 64 ranking in the top ten (at number eight).
