Warren Spector, director of Ion Storm's Austin studio, refutes rumors that the games will ship on console systems first.

Ion Storm recently sent out a notice responding to rumors claiming that Deus Ex 2 and Thief 3 will ship as console games first. Warren Spector, the director of Ion Storm's Austin studio, commented, "We have no plans to release a console version of Deus Ex 2 or Thief 3 before a PC version, or to compromise one version to accommodate the needs of any other version we might develop."

"Both Deus Ex 2 and Thief 3 are a ways off--making immersive simulations takes time!--and official announcements regarding these projects will be made in the future," Spector added. "Until then, let me just say that the members of the Deus Ex 2 and Thief 3 teams, many of whom helped create the original Thief and Deus Ex, are determined to meet and surpass your justifiably high expectations."

Deus Ex is a futuristic role-playing game with a storyline filled with conspiracies. It was developed by Ion Storm and released last June by Eidos Interactive. The Thief series was developed by the now-defunct Looking Glass Studios. The Thief games feature stealth-oriented action set in a medieval world.
