Infogrames Entertainment has announced the acquisition of Hasbro Interactive and Games.com for US$100 million, 95 percent in Infogrames stock and five percent in cash. The deal also gives Infogrames exclusive rights to publish digital interactive games based on current and future Hasbro properties. Hasbro is also guaranteed a percentage of proceeds based on sales generated from the licensing agreement. The deal is expected to close in early 2001.

The licensing agreement gives Infogrames the rights to a wide variety of popular games, including MicroProse games such as Civilization, Falcon, and Roller Coaster Tycoon, and Atari properties such as Centipede, Missile Command, and Pong. In addition, all interactive versions of Hasbro board games are covered in the agreement, including Monopoly, Scrabble, Clue, Risk, and Boggle. An unannounced massively multiplayer game based on the tabletop Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game is also included in the agreement. Infogrames will own the publishing rights for a period of 15 years, with an option to extend the agreement for another five years based on performance.

Infogrames will also own Games.com, an online game site scheduled to launch in early 2001. Visitors to the site will be able to play more than 30 online games based on popular Hasbro properties, including Monopoly, Clue, Scrabble, Asteroids, and Risk.
