Indiana Jones 4K Blu-Ray Collection Preorders Discounted At Amazon

The Indiana Jones films are iconic in cinema, but they have never been released in 4K. That's set to change very soon, as Paramount is re-releasing the movies in 4K Ultra HD for the first time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark. The Indiana Jones 4-Movie Collection releases June 8, and Amazon is offering a nice discount on preorders right now.

The collection will retail for $90, but Amazon is currently selling preorders for $80. As always with Amazon, if you order now, you'll get the lowest price offered your copy ships. The collection comes with remastered versions of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, The Last Crusade, and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as well as a bunch of new bonus content. It comes packaged in a collectible box and contains digital copies of each movie, too.

The new versions have Dolby Vision and Dolby Audio support, along with remixed sound from Skywalker Sound and sound designer Ben Burtt. The remastered visuals are based on 4K scans of the original negatives, enhanced by "extensive visual effects work." Steven Spielberg, the director of the franchise, apparently personally approved the new look. Indiana Jones isn't the only classic film getting the 4K treatment, as the beloved animated movie Shrek is also getting a 4K release this year to mark the film's 20th anniversary.

Going back to Indiana Jones, a fifth movie is currently in the works with Harrison Ford set to appear once again. Steven Spielberg, who directed the previous films, has dropped out, with Logan director James Mangold coming in to direct the next film.
