Hulu Fires Justin Roiland From Solar Opposites And Koala Man Following Felony Accusations

The writer-director, performer, and animator is also out at Adult Swim and Squanch Games.

Following news that Adult Swim has cut ties with Justin Roiland following allegations of domestic violence, Hulu has now parted ways with him on Solar Opposites and Koala Man. Variety was first to report.

"We have ended our association with Justin Roiland," 20th Television Animation and Hulu Originals said in a statement. Both Solar Opposites and Koala Man will continue without Roiland's involvement. In October 2022, Hulu renewed Solar Opposites through to Season 5. Season 3 wrapped last summer.

Roiland provided the voices for both of the leads on Rick and Morty, among others, and until this announcement voiced Korvo and other various characters on Solar Opposites. Roiland was also a showrunner and executive producer on both shows. Rick and Morty will continue with Dan Harmon as showrunner, and voices are expected to be recast. The 70-episode order takes the show up through Season 10. Season 6 aired on the Adult Swim network this past fall, and Season 7 is currently in production.

Roiland pleaded not guilty to the charges filed, which include one count of felony domestic battery with corporal injury and one count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud, and/or deceit. The charges stem from an incident with a former girlfriend in August 2020, for which he was arrested and released on $50,000 bond. The case's next court appearance is scheduled for April 27.

The Rick and Morty co-creator also resigned from Squanch Games as co-founder, in an announcement that was tweeted earlier Wednesday.
