How To Start Diablo 4 Abattoir Of Zir Dungeon And Unlock All Rewards

Diablo 4's new endgame dungeon has arrived, but you will need to be properly prepared before you can take it on.

Diablo 4 has introduced a new endgame dungeon, Abattoir of Zir, designed for players who have mastered the rest of the game. This new dungeon is incredibly difficult, with its first tier equivalent to the difficulty of a Tier 100 Nightmare Dungeon, where enemies are level 154. This dungeon rewards some loot, but the main reward is a new glyph that drastically increases your damage output. Here's how you can access Abattoir of Zir, how it works, and what you earn for completing it.

How to access the Abattoir of Zir dungeon

The Abattoir of Zir dungeon can be accessed by crafting the Bloodforged Sigil, which costs 800 Sigil Powder at Tier 1 and increases from there. In order to craft it, you will need the Bloodforged Sigil recipe, which has some intense unlock requirements. To unlock the recipe you need to complete the Season Journey, which will require you to reach the seventh section and complete at least seven of the nine objectives. The reason for this is that Abattoir of Zir is a difficult activity, starting at the same difficulty as a Tier 100 Nightmare Dungeon, so you will need to have maxed-out Glyphs and pretty much perfect equipment.

There is a way to get around this requirement, but it requires finding someone who has access to the Abattoir of Zir. Whenever you complete a tier of Abattoir of Zir for the first time, you get the recipe to craft the next tier. If you party up with someone who has a Bloodforged Sigil and complete the dungeon with them, you will unlock the recipe for the next tier. This means you can skirt the Season Journey requirements, although you will only be able to do Tier 2 and above.

How Abattoir of Zir works

Once you craft the Bloodforged Sigil and use it, it will unlock the Nightmare Dungeon. You will spawn into a random dungeon layout, but the objective is the same every time: Kill a ton of enemies to spawn in the bosses named the Guardians. The Guardians are three Bloodseekers, which are elites that are vampire versions of the five playable classes. Both the initial objective and the bosses need to be completed in a 10 minute time limit. There are 25 tiers of Abattoir of Zir, with each tier drastically increasing both the damage and health of enemies.

These dungeons have a few other differences from other Nightmare Dungeons. They don't have random attributes for the first few tiers, like Avenger Enemies. They also don't have cursed Shrines, so every Shrine can be claimed without worry of starting an event. The enemies also don't drop loot, with the exception of the final bosses, who typically drop a couple legendaries at power level 925.

The biggest hurdle here is that dying is an instant fail, regardless of how many people are in your party. Regardless of whether you are doing it solo or with a group, if one person dies, it's an automatic fail, making defense just as important as damage. If you fail, you do not get your Bloodforged Sigil back. Considering the high Sigil Dust cost, you shouldn't take this dungeon lightly.

While you do get a couple pieces of loot, the main rewards of Abattoir of Zir are the new Glyph and Glyph XP. The new Glyph, Tears of Blood, gives 2% more damage for every 5 core stat purchased within its range, plus a 50% boost to rare nodes in range. Considering that each regular node on the Paragon Board gives 5 of a specific stat, so each node in range increases your damage by 2%. This Glyph can be leveled up to level 25, adding an additional 0.1% damage per 5 core stat with each level.

This Glyph requires much more XP than other Glyphs, but Abattoir of Zir rewards a massive amount. Completing a run at Tier 1 rewards 1,000 Glyph XP, with each tier up offering an additional 100 XP. This means that the best way to increase your stats and prepare for the next tier of Abattoir of Zir by leveling the Glyph.

Abattoir of Zir is available for six weeks in Diablo 4, going away on January 16, when Season 2 ends.
