In Assassin's Creed Mirage, there are three kinds of Assassin's Creed tokens, and each of them plays an important and similar role in the story. The three kinds of Khidmah Tokens are essentially different currencies you can exchange for favors. With merchant tokens, scholar tokens, and power tokens, you can unlock special requests, store discounts, and more, all en route to taking out the Order members spread across ninth-century Baghdad.

Assassin's Creed Mirage tokens explained

Each kind of Khidmah Token serves its own purpose. First, we'll go through what each can be used for:

  • Merchant token (green) - Can be used to open Token Chests, or pay merchant groups that allow you to blend in with them and enter restricted areas. You can also trade them to merchants directly for permanent shop discounts.
  • Scholar tokens (silver) - Can be used to pay musicians to distract guards or purchase maps from the Cartographer NPC.
  • Power tokens (bronze) - Can be used to pay mercenaries to attack nearby guards or to bribe a Munadi to lower your notoriety.

How to get more tokens in Assassin's Creed Mirage

Because many missions take you into restricted areas, it's prudent to always have a few of each kind of token in your inventory. Some favors cost just one token, while others can cost as many as four based on our experience. There are two ideal methods for amassing more tokens if you find yourself running low.

The first method is to complete Contracts. These are optional side missions found on the mission board within any Assassin Bureau around the open world. You can see what rewards you get for any Contract before accepting it, so it's best to focus on the missions that grant you the specific token or tokens you're looking for.

A faster, and perhaps better method is to pickpocket citizens around the world. Using Eagle Vision, you can see which denizens have items that can be stolen out of their pockets--or you'll also see the prompt to pickpocket when you're near someone with goodies for the taking.

Trading tokens for access can get you into hard-to-reach places perfect for stealthy assassins.

Each pickpocket attempt includes a quicktime-event minigame, and failing it will alert guards, so you should be careful. However, many pockets you pick will reward you with more tokens, though you can't see the items you'll steal before you perform the maneuver.

If you want to ensure your pickpocket attempts are successful, the game actually includes an accessibility feature that guarantees success. Simply head to Options>Gameplay>Combat & Stealth, and turn on "Guaranteed Pickpocket." This will remove the pickpocketing minigame from the entire game, turning pilfering into a basic button press.

However you choose to do it, collecting a great number of tokens is key to success in Mirage, so you should devote some time to doing just that. For more on Ubisoft's nostalgic sequel/prequel, check out how to find the hidden place in an early mission that grants you legendary loot.
