Destiny 2's new secret Exotic mission to get the Vexcalibur glaive has much more to offer after the first completion. When you first complete the mission and acquire Vexcalibur, you’ll get a quest called Vexcalibur: Authorization Override. By completing this, you'll be able to unlock new intrinsic traits for the weapon, much like Revision Zero last season.

In order to get to the new Vexcalibur Exotic glaive, you need to complete Defiant Battlegrounds as part of your seasonal quest--it should be one the first few steps in the questline. Once you have that part done, we have a handy guide that takes you through the secret entrance on EDZ and //NODE.OVRD.AVALON// Exotic mission. With that done, here's how to begin unlocking new intrinsic traits.

This Exotic secret mission has much more to offer after the first completion. When you first complete the mission and acquire Vexcalibur, you’ll get a quest called Vexcalibur: Authorization Override.

Vexcalibur: Authorization Override

It’s a short quest with three parts where you must get Vex final blows by firing the Vexcalibur glaive--glaive melee kills may not count but ranged shots definitely do. Vex are predominantly around the Neomuna’s Vex Incursion Zone and Límíng Harbor's Thrilladrome Lost Sector, or you can head to The Orrery Lost Sector on Nessus from Artifact’s Edge. The Garden of Salvation raid entrance spawns many Vex.

Under Vexcalibur’s weapon mods tab, you should see a basic mod called Authorization Override. Equipping this gives Vexcalibur the ability to walk through Vex barriers. Then head back to the HELM to get your Defiant Engram reward; you'll have one out of three Ctrl-Alt-Complete Season of Defiance Triumphs completed too.

How to get M1R Distribution Matrix II Intrinsic Trait - Data Retrieval: Substrate

Now with your updated Vexcalibur, head back into the //NODE.OVRD.AVALON// mission. When you jump onto the platform below, you’ll see a green node above on the opposite side of the room. Get to the other side through the small doors on the bottom or use your new glaive ability to break through Vex barriers.

The first data node is on top of a small platform in the top window.

To pass through barriers, hold Vexcalibur’s shield as you walk into the barrier. The glaive will have a purple Void Overshield, and the screen will have a wavy effect as you go through. Next, jump up to activate the glowing, green data node.

For the second data node, follow the Vex milk river, but don’t slide down to the next part of the mission. Instead, jump onto the platform above with the tiny room enclosed by the Vex barriers. Use your Vexcalibur shield to pierce through and grab the green data node.

The second data node is inside a small room of Vex barriers.

That chest will give you the M1R Distribution Matrix II Intrinsic Trait and complete the Data Retrieval: Substrate secret Triumph. Vexcalibur is a craftable Exotic glaive, so if you go to the Mars Relic, you can choose M1R Distribution Matrix II when you Reshape the weapon.

If you want an Exotic catalyst for Vexcalibur, complete the secret mission on Legendary mode--set at Power level 1830. You can acquire other quests, secrets, and catalysts from the Vexcalibur Exotic mission as they unlock in upcoming weeks.
