House of the Dead Progresses

The Saturn port of House of the Dead is said to be progressing well.

The talented people at Sega are currently working on the home port of House of the Dead. Famitsu recently interviewed team members Rikiya Nakagawa and Hirosi Asou about the development of the game.

According to the interview, they are laboring with the port since the game is based on the Model 2 board. If the development progresses favorably, they want to add something new to the game such as Time Attack Mode or an additional player character.

Nakagawa says that the gory scenes in the game will stay intact in the Saturn version. Although there is no mention of it in the interview, screen shots clearly show that the blood in the game is green. It is not known if the color of the blood can be changed or not.

The reason for the green blood is that during the summer in Japan, the brutal death of an 11-year-old elementary school boy Jun Hase by a 14-year-old classmate rocked Japan. After the incident, Sega ordered all of the arcade games in this country to change the color of blood in the games from red to green.

House of the Dead is expected to be released on the Saturn next year.
