If you've seen our news coverage, you know of EA Sports' move to lower the price on all of this year's line of big-name sports games. Some titles, such as Madden NFL 2005 and NHL 2005 are being cut by $20, while two others, the already discounted NBA Live 2005 (formerly $39.95) and NCAA Footall 2005 will see $10 reductions and sell for $29.95 and $39.95 respectively.

According to EA officials, the move was designed to attract casual sports gamers who didn't purchase these titles immediately upon release. Of course, it's also another shot across the bow of ESPN Videogames, in direct response to the company's aggressive pricing policy for their entire 2004 line of sports games.

Is this a good move? Should EA have matched ESPN's $20 price on all their titles? Or, based on their solid position in the market, do they even need to? How will this affect holiday sales for both companies? Let's hear what you've got to say!
