Hitman 3 Release Week Buying Guide: Preorder Bonuses, Discounts, Editions, And More
Hitman 3 comes out tomorrow, but there's still time to purchase it ahead of time and secure its preorder bonuses; plus, discounts are available at Amazon and Walmart.
IO Interactive's World of Assassination storyline will come to an end when Hitman 3 releases this Wednesday, January 20, on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Epic). It'll release on Nintendo Switch at a later date. The game is also coming with PlayStation VR support, and you'll be able to play the entire World of Assassination trilogy in VR, though it seems like this special mode will only be available for PSVR. No PC VR options have been announced. Finally, there will be physical editions available at launch for the game--including discounts at Amazon and Walmart--so if you prefer physical disc versions of your games, you're in luck.
Hitman 3 promises to once again take players all over the world to pull off assassinations in the most ridiculous of ways, and some of the levels already look as exciting as the first two games' fantastic stages. The first Hitman 3 level trailer focused on Dartmoor, an old manor that is the crime scene of a murder. The house is inhabited by a family with a dark past, and you're not entirely sure whodunit--it definitely seems inspired by old detective movies. The trailer shows the illustrious dining room, halls, and secrets that you'll likely use to navigate the mysterious house. Other screenshots have shown Agent 47 standing on top of a huge skyscraper and inside of a beautiful, elegant building that is definitely full of rich criminals (aka your targets).
Our Hitman 3 review is live now--the game received a 9/10 for its excellent level design, smart twists on the formula, and other improvements. "What's good about Hitman--its level design and the creativity, experimentation, and exploration that affords--is great in Hitman 3," wrote editor Phil Hornshaw. "It closes out the trilogy by brilliantly playing off everything that came before it, making use of and then subverting expectations, and rewarding players for their willingness to master the complexity of both its individual levels and the series as a whole."
If you play Hitman 3 on PS5, you'll be able to experience Hitman 3's use of the DualSense controller. The game makes use of the DualSense's adaptive triggers to create an "authentic sensation," with automatic weapons having a simulated recoil and unique haptic feedback profiles for every other firearm in the game.
Those who own Hitman and Hitman 2 will also have the opportunity to play levels from those games in Hitman 3 for free by downloading an Access Pass, and this works across console generations--Hitman 2 owners will be able to download the Hitman 2 Access Pass DLC in Hitman 3 for both PS4 and PS5, for example. While PlayStation and Xbox owners will be able to take advantage of this right away, IO Interactive is "continuing to work on a solution" for PC, but it promises PC players will eventually be able to import locations from Hitman 1 and 2 at no cost.
Will Hitman 3 next-gen upgrades be free?
Yes. If you preorder either the physical or digital PS4 or Xbox One version, then you'll get a free next-gen upgrade to the PS5 or Xbox Series X version respectively.
Hitman 3 preorder bonuses

Every Hitman 3 preorder comes with the Trinity Pack, which is a collection of new items inspired by past games in the World of Assassination trilogy. The Trinity Pack consists of a suit, weapon, and briefcase from the first two games as well as Hitman 3: white from Hitman, Hot Magenta from Hitman 2, and black for Hitman 3.

Physical preordered copies of Hitman 3 Deluxe Edition from Limited Run Games will also come with a commemorative passport that celebrates 20 years of the Hitman franchise.
Preorder Hitman 3 standard edition | $60

The standard edition comes with the $60 game and its preorder bonuses. No matter which console you buy it for, you'll also get a free next-gen upgrade to either PS5 or Xbox Series X. At Amazon and Walmart, the game is on sale for $49.94 ahead of release.

Preorder Hitman 3 Deluxe edition | $80

The Deluxe edition costs $80 and comes with a lot of extra content, including the preorder bonuses. There's no season pass, so it doesn't look like there'll be any additional DLC levels as of now. However, it's still packed with some "Deluxe" Escalation contracts and more:
- Deluxe Escalation contracts
- Deluxe suits and items
- Digital soundtrack
- Digital "World of Hitman" book
- Digital commentary (mission introduction)
The Deluxe edition also comes with the free next-gen upgrade, so whichever version you end up buying, you'll also be able to play either the PS5 or Xbox Series X version for free. PlayStation Plus subscribers get a special discount of $72.
Physical editions of this version are available, though IO warns that in some regions, preordering will be the only way to get one; there won't be stock of it outside bespoke orders. In the US, physical copies of the Hitman 3 Deluxe Edition are available from Limited Run Games.
