Here's Robert Pattinson In The Batman Suit

The mantle of the Bat has officially been passed down.

For all we know about Matt Reeves's upcoming DC film, The Batman, there's still a ton of mystery surrounding it. Yes, Robert Pattinson will be playing Bruce Wayne, Zoe Kravitz will be Selina Kyle, Collin Farrell will play The Penguin--but beyond the star-studded cast, the details have been kept extremely vague. The slow drip of information continues to trickle in and the latest is test footage for the movie. Reeves took to Twitter to share the video, giving us our first look at Pattinson in full costume, and our first glimpse at what we can expect from the brand new Bat Suit. [Update: We've now gotten another look at the new Batman thanks to the first official photos of the new Batmobile.]

The Batman is expected to take a more detective-focused look into the world of the Dark Knight, pitting Bruce Wayne against not only The Penguin and Catwoman, but The Riddler (Paul Dano) tool. Joining Dano, Farrell, Pattinson, and Kravitz will be Andy Serkis as Batman's faithful butler, Alfred Pennyworth. Westworld actor Jeffery Wright has also been in talks to take the role of Commissioner Gordon.

We can't be sure where or how The Batman will connect to the rest of the DCEU, or if it will remain a completely disconnected alternate universe similar to Joker--but one thing is definitely certain: The new costume looks absolutely incredible. The Bat logo on the chest seems to be made of fragmented metal, the shoulders look heavily armored, and the cowl looks like it may have already seen some battle damage, which could indicate that we'll be joining the Caped Crusader well into his superhero journey, rather than at the very start.

Of course, it's difficult to make out the finer details in the video--the shot provided in the camera test is sparsely lit and saturated in red, so the actual colors are impossible to properly discern. Notably, Pattinson's Bat Suit seems to have a much higher collar around the neckline and cape than any of his movie Bat-predecessors.

Twitter user Luc Pestille has manipulated the lighting in After Effects to remove the red glow and provided a slightly better look at the suit, which is reminiscent of the angular design used in Rocksteady's Batman Arkham games.

The Batman is due out in theaters on June 25, 2021.

"Notably, Pattinson's Bat Suit seems to have a much higher collar around the neckline and cape than any of his movie Bat-predecessors."

Very notable, indeed! What could it possibly mean?! WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE?!?!?!

~Kilmer & Clooney= Cartoons

~Afleck=bad script & mediocre@best co-stars.

~ChristianBale=Woulda been great except for retarded voice

~Michael Keaton= best Bruce Wayne EVER.

only issue was stiff Batsuit but a really good Batsuit for sure.

**Batman is something that should just be rebooted constantly.

Are they doing Penguin & Riddler because they we're missing from Nolans?

or because it's been awhile??

I hope it's the Been awhile option....

~Same w/ Rocksteady Arkham games..

Just start w/ a fresh new story already.

I think after the tragedy of Jared Leto's Joker

and how a talented Actor put 110% into the role and it still failed because everyone is stuck on

Heath Ledgers iconic portrayal..

IMO the Joker role will be very hard to cast as it's a role that is too risky..

Leto didn't chose for Joker to be ThugLife Joker..

I'm neutral on Leto. but aware they dicked him aka us over...

Whatevs….

Im hopeful...

**YouTube "Greyson" and get past the corny 1990's graphics and see what a Batman movie/story should be like....

@sippio: Keaton is really far from being a good adaptation, one of the worst actually. Too small and goofy looking, overacts as Bruce Wayne, the suit looks awful (he can't even move his head ffs), etc.. There's no decent live action batman. Unlike other comic book characters like superman, rorschach, JJ Jameson, iron man, etc.. these character had a perfect cast

Corny af BUT it gives a batman story bigger then just Gotham..

This is needed as DC should be blowing away Marvel in Hollywood

based on characters but we know the story....

Needs more darkness.

Pattinson is a hot commodity now, (which is well deserved). He's in the upcoming new Christopher Nolan movie, Tenet, (check the trailer, shit just looks mindblowing).

@DereksDontRun: These two were awful, Bale remains the most acceptable (goofy voice, but what can we do). There's not a single good live action adaptation of this character yet and I think the twilight guy will be no different.

@gleencross: 'Twilight guy' has actually turned into a very competent actor indeed, so I wouldn't worry about his ability to portray the character, more about how he's told to actually do the character.

@mezzanine58: That doesn't really matter. You can cast Daniel Day-Lewis as Bruce Wayne, if he is not menacing and fearsome as Batman, his acting talents will serve for nothing. The reason why many fans acknowledges the arkham games as one of the best adaptations is just that, Conroy has a very threatening and menacing voice + the character looks like a 6'2 linebacker at the peak of his physique + he somehow knows every martial art in the world + money power. Arkham batman is one bad mother fucker, he is a borderline "super" hero, can face a army by himself without sounding too forced. That's what lacks in every live action version of the character. And even when you hire a guy with the physical tools to play the role, like Affleck, bad writing and bad directing can ruin his already (very) weak acting talent (for example, he hiding in the wall like a cockroach, screaming for martha, etc.. and the physicality was not there anymore when he returned as fatman in the justice league movie). So, the Twilight guy have no physical presence whatsoever, neither a imposing voice or personality. He is just too small and nonthreatening (a issue that Gadot also have + she can't even speak). No amount of "hollywood training" can make a naturally puny guy into a man.

Edward Norton in American History X says hello. They buffed his ass up in 3 months for that role, and he is definitely naturally puny, as you put it.

The suit looks surprisingly good, the mask looks cheap, but hopefully, it is just a test mask. Also how the people of Gotham can't recognize that's it bruce Wayne is an amazing mystery.

Willing to give it a chance. He's a talented actor. I like the change from the action to his more intuitive detective side. After all that's one of Batman's greatest's strengths, and it is constantly overlooked in film.

It's the goddamn iron batman armor, similar to arkham knight. Ok, that's a good sign, the natural approach is to copy the arkham games

Blurry images don't say much. However I'm still on the fence about this movie at this as well. Now if they do good job I will say hats off but if they screw up it's the end of batman as we know it.

@notafan: The actor is puny and nonthreatening, but depending of how much they copy the visual aspects of the games, he (or his body double) can deceive the audience... similar to what Affleck's Batman did in that warehouse fight scene. The formula is there: make the character investigate crimes through money power, then show him fighting like a jiu-jitsu ninja who breaks spines and legs easily. In a scenario like this, any actor can work.
