Heavy Rain studio revealing next project at E3 - Report

Quantic Dream's David Cage will reportedly reveal studio's next major title during Sony's press conference at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo; two projects reportedly in the works for Sony.

Quantic Dream founder David Cage will reportedly reveal his studio's next gaming project at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo in June in Los Angeles.

Cage's next project will reportedly be revealed at E3 next week.
Cage's next project will reportedly be revealed at E3 next week.

Citing a "senior development source" inside the Heavy Rain studio, a CVG report states that Cage will appear onstage during Sony's E3 press conference next Monday to talk about his next project.

The same source also reportedly told the publication that Quantic Dream is currently working on two unannounced projects for Sony, though it is unclear whether both are in development for the PlayStation 3.

Earlier this month, Cage stated that the next generation of consoles won't be needed until 2017, saying he would be happy to see the PS3 continue on for another five years.

The most recent title that Cage and Quantic Dream released was 2010's well-received adventure game Heavy Rain. Cage showed a tech demo titled Kara during the 2012 Game Developers Conference in March, but the developer said that this has nothing to do with the company's next project.

Kara will have something to do with the next game. Too much work and thought went into this "tech demo" for it not to be utilized in some fashion. BTW the text "running in real time on the ps3" really wasn't all that impressive. I've seen the Samaritan demo on UE4, now that's an impressive tech demo. This is only impressive because of the powerful message it sends and the endless possibilities to which it leads. If Quantic Dream does end up making a game that has nothing to do with "Kara", which I doubt will happen, and it's anything less than extraordinary, everyone will look back at this and say they made a mistake.

@andrewwittmaier

The Samaritan demo was made in UE3.

And tech demos are sometimes more important than full games, because of their nature of focusing on one or two ideas.

And that's how you push technology.

Let's hope they don't run out of money before hiring voice actors again...

Now I am interested in this E3.

Looking forward to this. Hope this project is as "special" and "original" as their previous games.

I liked them all (Omikron, Indigo prophecy and Heavy rain)!

You guys think it has anything to do with the Kara demo. Remember the "Casting Audition demo" eventually because Heavy Rain.

@parlitooo Reason 1: Because Sony pays Quantic Dream for exclusive rights. Reason 2: games like this don't sell well on the 360. Look at Catherine, Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia for Proof. Reason 3: Quantic Dream prefer Playstation 3. Ask yourself this why isn't Gears on the PS3? Same reasons.

@ExplicitMike Agreed. X360 sells shooters with shallow story only.

@theonlylolking @zzamaro I didn't say sales of all non shooters were bad. Is a well known fact that shooters sell way more than anything else on the 360. I used to have 100 friends on my gamertag. Like 3 people played anything than a shooter. some played fighting games and others western RPG's but, mostly shooters. But as far as your examples go. Mass effect was an RPG with 3rd person shooter mechanics and FF13 sold on the name alone. If look at all other things on the 360 you see that they weren't that profitable.

@zzamaro @ExplicitMike No, ME series and FF13 are great games that sold well on the 360.
