Harry Potter Open-World RPG Hogwarts Legacy Delayed To 2022
Hogwarts Legacy will stay under wraps until 2022.
The anticipated upcoming Harry Potter open-world RPG, Hogwarts Legacy, has been delayed to 2022. Publisher Portkey Games made the announcement on Twitter, saying the game needed more time to shine.
"Creating the best possible experience for all of the Wizarding World and gaming fans is paramount to us so we are giving the game the time it needs," the studio said.
Hogwarts Legacy takes place in the late 1800s, where your actions will shape the wizarding world of Harry Potter. You can learn spells, tame fantastical beasts, and team-up with iconic Harry Potter characters during Hogwarts Legacy's main campaign.
Developer Avalanche Software has shared some screenshots of what players can expect when Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy arrives in 2022 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, in addition to last-gen consoles.
Avalanche's head of story Adrian Ropp briefly discussed some of the features Hogwarts Legacy will tout thanks to the power of PlayStation 5's processors and the sensory capabilities of the DualSense controller. Specifically, Ropp said the DualSense imbues a sense of sound and touch not seen in previous Harry Potter games, a feature that will make Hogwarts Legacy much more immersive.
"This is an exciting time to develop immersive experiences--the new opportunities provided by the PS5 are literal game-changers," Ropp said. "With innovative high definition graphics, a player can practically feel the terror of Inferi bearing down upon them [and] sense the ground rumbling beneath them as a herd of angry centaurs surrounds them. Even dueling against a deadly dark witch takes on a new level of realism thanks to the controller’s ability to imbue sound and touch into every moment."
Controversial author J.K. Rowling is not directly involved with Hogwarts Legacy.
