Happy Gilmore: Masters Runner-Up Will Zalatoris Embraces The Look-Alike Memes
The 24-year-old bears a resemblance to Adam Sandler's caddy from the 1996 movie--and it spawned a lot of memes.
The famous Adam Sandler movie Happy Gilmore, which turns 25 this year, is back in the news yet again. One of the stars of this past weekend's Masters golf tournament was the youngster Will Zalatoris, who put on a heck of a performance to finish second in his Masters debut. Many people remarked that Zalatoris looks like Sandler's first caddy from Happy Gilmore, and Zalatoris and Sandler got in on the fun.
On Sunday, Sandler wished Zalatoris well on this final round at the Masters. He said, "Have fun today young man. Mr. Gilmore is watching you and very proud." Zalatoris quote-tweeted Sandler's and said, "If you're ever in need of a caddie again let me know. I'll be better this time. I'm always available for you, Mr. Gilmore."

Before this, Zalatoris revealed that one of his wedges has the character's line, "Mr. Gilmore, I'm your caddy," engraved on it. He's really leaning into it and taking things in stride.

The first caddy role in Happy Gilmore was played by Jared Van Snellenberg, who now works professionally in psychiatry.
As for Zalatoris, he was the only player in the Masters field to shoot under par in all four rounds. The 24-year-old finished solo second, taking home $1.242 million.
