Watch Dogs Legion Buyer's Guide: Editions, Next-Gen Version Info, And More

The hacker-centric franchise is back with Watch Dogs Legion.

Watch Dogs Legion is pitching a more systemic and freeform approach to open-world games, focusing on having you assemble a large group of hackers instead of following a single protagonist. The game is out today, October 29 on PS4, Xbox One, PC (via Uplay and the Epic Games Store), and Stadia. Watch Dogs Legion will also be available on Xbox Series X and S when those consoles launch November 10 as well as the PS5 when it launches November 12.

In our GameSpot Watch Dogs: Legion review, the game received an 8/10. "Watch Dogs: Legion is an anti-fascist game, and it's admirable that it sticks to that message and sees it through to a satisfying and affirming conclusion," editor Alessandro Fillari wrote. "It also bolsters the franchise's clever hacking gameplay to offer more creativity than ever. One of Legion's more profound messages is about what it means to be a true Londoner, and by the game's end, you'll have a DedSec crew made of wildly diverse and disparate citizens from unique cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds--all united in their goal to restore their home. If anything, that's as powerful a message for the game as you can get."

Now Playing: Watch Dogs: Legion Short Film Trailer | Ubisoft Forward 2020

Those who buy Watch Dogs Legion will receive a free upgrade from PS4 to PS5 and Xbox One to Xbox Series X, regardless of whether you buy a physical or digital copy. For physical edition owners, you will have to insert the disc into the next-gen console when playing. Digital edition owners can download the game on their new console this holiday, with Series X supporting Smart Delivery.

While the first two games took place in Chicago and San Francisco, respectively, Watch Dogs Legion moves the setting to a near-future, dystopian London. Interestingly, Legion will let players "recruit" and take control of any NPC in the game, and your character choice will actually affect how the game plays out. Check out our guide to everything we know about Watch Dogs Legion, including how its NPC system works, character classes, combat, and more. Also, take a peek at the latest trailer shown during Ubisoft Forward.
