Speaking to Complex, Gunn stated that although a third movie was being planned, he wouldn't definitely direct it. "There will be a Guardians 3, that's for sure," he said. "We're trying to figure it out. I'm trying to figure out what I want to do really, that's all it is. I got to figure out where I want to be, what I want to spend the next three years of my life doing.

"I'm going to make another big movie; is it the Guardians or something else? I'm just going to figure it out over the next couple of weeks."

This follows comments made by Marvel boss Kevin Feige last year, who stated that Guardians 3 would form part of the studio's slate of future films. "We're only working on what's been announced through the end of 2019," he told io9. "And it is still a big chess board for 2020 and beyond, but certainly I would say Guardians 3 is one film that's up there. I don't know what exactly the order will be."

A new TV spot for Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2 was released earlier this week. There was also a new clip that aired during the Kids Choice Awards on Nickelodeon over the weekend. It has not been officially posted by Marvel, but you can find it on YouTube.

In Guardians of the Galaxy video game news, Telltale is working on an episodic title based on the series, with the first screenshots now available to see. Additionally, Deus Ex developer Eidos Montreal is rumored to be working on a game based on it.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, and Kurt Russell. It hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
