Guacamelee! dev's next game mixes Mega Man, Infinity Blade, and Punch Out!!
Drinkbox Studios bringing Severed to mobile in 2015, but also considering other platforms.
Guacamelee! developer Drinkbox Studios’ next game will be Severed, a gesture-based combat game for mobile platforms.
As you can see in the concept video, you’ll play as a one-armed warrior exploring an open world. You’ll battle enemies by swiping the screen to execute different attacks and spells, and gain their powers by attaching their severed body parts to yourself. As Drinkbox told Destructoid, Severed’s open world and boss structure is inspired by Mega Man, while its combat is a mix Infinity Blade and Punch Out!!.
Drinkbox also said that it’s considering bringing Severed to any platform where its gesture controls could work, including the PlayStation Vita, 3DS, Wii U, and even PlayStation Move, Kinect, and Project Morpheus.
Drinkbox plans to release Severed in 2015. If you’re unfamiliar with Guacamelee!, check out our review.
