Grand Theft Auto VI's announcement trailer is breaking records, as YouTube has confirmed that it tallied more than 93 million views over its first 24 hours through the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel.

The video has climbed beyond 123 million views at press time. According to YouTube, the GTA VI announcement trailer set the record for the "most-viewed trailer launch" in the site's history, while it's also the biggest trailer launch for a non-music video debut. The South Korean boy band BTS holds that record with a reported 108 million views in its first 24 hours.

When combined with the 18 million views on GameSpot's YouTube channel (including 17.2 million in the first 24 hours) and millions more from IGN and other accounts, GTA VI actually is the biggest debut of all time for any video on YouTube.

"Setting this new all-time record is a testament to the cultural impact of the series," YouTube Gaming boss Leo Olebe said in a news release.

According to YouTube, there have been more than 250 million views of GTA VI-related videos on YouTube since the trailer premiered. "We're excited to see what the future holds for Grand Theft Auto on YouTube," the video streaming site said.

GTA VI is set for release in 2025 across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC launch could come sometime later, but nothing is confirmed at this stage.

The game is set in the state of Leonida, which is a stand-in for Florida. GTA VI will include a big metropolitan area known as Vice City (AKA Miami), as well as surrounding areas featuring waterways filled with alligators, flamingoes, sharks, and more.
