GTA 5 Online Update Adds Gun Game-Like Mode, Beach Car, and Double XP Bonus

GTA Online continues to expand.

Rockstar Games continues to update Grand Theft Auto V's multiplayer offering, today launching a new mode, premium race, and car, while some Thanksgiving bonuses have also begun.

The new GTA Online Adversary mode is called Kill Quota, which supports up to 16 players across 2-4 teams. The match begins with the host choosing which of four loadouts, each containing six weapons, will be used. Teams must reach a set kill count before they move on to the next, less powerful weapon. The first team to make it through all six weapons in a match wins. Alternatively, the team with the highest kill count at the end of the time limit will be the victor.

Here are the four loadout options:

  • Loadout 1: RPG > Minigun > Special Carbine > Heavy Revolver > Sawed-Off Shotgun > Machete
  • Loadout 2: Railgun > Combat MG > Musket > Heavy Sniper > Pump Shotgun > Knuckle Duster
  • Loadout 3: Sweeper Shotgun > Compact Rifle > Mini SMG > Compact Launcher > Double Barreled Shotgun > Pool Cue
  • Loadout 4: RPG > Railgun > Heavy Shotgun > Advanced Rifle > AP Pistol > Knife

Kill Quota is played on seven new maps, though these were not specified. Additionally, Rockstar will offer double GTA$ and RP for Kill Quota until November 28.

Today's GTA Online update also adds a new vehicle in the form of the Bravado Youga Classic, which looks like the Mystery Machine.

As for GTA Online's Thanksgiving bonuses, Rockstar is not only offering double GTA$ and RP in Kill Quota, but also in the Every Bullet Counts, Running Back, and Inch by Inch modes--however, these only pay out double on Thanksgiving Day (November 24).

GTA Online players can also take advantage of a 25 percent off deal on the following items until November 28:

  • Vehicles: Buckingham SuperVolito and SuperVolito Carbon
  • Vehicle Customizations: Rims, Turbo, Liveries, Resprays, Engine Mods
  • Clothing: Biker Clothing (not including Deadline Outfits) and Tattoos
  • Weapons: Compact Rifle, Carbine Rifle, Assault Rifle

Lastly, Rockstar announced that GTA Online's newest premium race is High Flier, which looks like a race from the game's Cunning Stunts update. Everyone earns triple RP for trying it, while those who finish in the top three will earn "substantial" GTA$ prizes. This race is available until November 28.

This is GTA Online's second major update this month, following the Deadline expansion. That update added a Tron-like racing mode that looks like a lot of fun.

@I miss:

1. the ability to work out at the gym and get built, or eat nothing but fast food and get fat.

2. breaking in to peoples houses in the hood or in the suburbs

3. date some hood chick and have some hot coffee!

4. Go to different gym's and learn new fighting techniques.

5. take over gang territories and have to fight gangs to keep them.

6. Getting some food at Cluck in bell or the local burger place.

7. I miss single player DLC, which made the over all story better.

@homey_d_clown: Likewise.

A little bit if character development would be a welcome addition. Fitness inclusion would be great.

Fat CJ was awesome and funny.

I really wish they would stop shoving PvP content in our faces and instead work on good PvE modes and new ways to have fun without just killing each other endlessly.

@Weskerzx95: After RDR Undead Nightmare I erroneously convinced myself we'd be seeing such a mode in GTA.

Then GTA:O got way too many people buying microtransactions to convince them to work on SP content that might not be as readily eaten up.

I wish they added new heists, I have zero interest in the new game modes, I'll do double rp & cash for heists but outside of that not wasting my time

@Sorugue: New heists with more money because those new vehicles cost really really really too much...

@isariamkia: New Jobs (missions) with much higher pay would be stellar. 40-50k and the ability to 'Replay' like before the very first patch removed it...

@Flyin3lvl: Which is what I find odd considering it was a central focal point of the game. I had a blast playing the first 5 with my friends and was really hoping for more. Seems like microtransactions have pretty much rerouted those plans.

I wish they would add new TYPES of vehicles. Segways, surfboards, long boards, skate boards, and things like that with no motor.

@jayskoon93: Agreed.

I'd like to see more trucks and SUV's that have off-road capability. Should be able to upgrade trucks, etc., to off-road specs (lift kits, etc.).

Drag strips, casino, car shows all should be events and things you can make money off of.

Semi's and untility vehicles should all be buyable and customizable (Saints Row 2-esque).

I could go on, but I know it's a lost cause.
