Grammy-Nominated Journey Soundtrack Will Be Released on Vinyl

Don't stop believin'.

Journey's musical score, which was composed by Austin Wintory and was nominated for a Grammy Award two years ago, will be re-released on vinyl, production company iam8bit announced today.

The score will ship across two vinyl picture discs that are totally gorgeous, created by Mark Englert. Each side has unique art, meaning there are four different images to enjoy. What's more, the scarf of Journey's hero, the Traveler, wraps around the disc for a nice effect as it spins.

"If you pay close attention to the Traveler's robe, you'll notice that the embroidery becomes more ornate as you progress from side A to side D--just like each time you beat the game," writes iam8bit product licensing manager Noah Lane on the PlayStation Blog.

On the inside of the disc jacket you'll find the Journey soundtrack's full credits along with another special drawing from the game. Pre-orders for the $35 Journey vinyl soundtrack open this coming Thursday, April 23 at the iam8bit website.

In addition, iam8bit will release an ultra-rare 12" x 36" screen print depicting an extended version of the album cover art through its website starting April 23. This print (see it in the gallery below) will sell for $60. Only 350 will be available, and each comes numbered and signed by Englert.

Wintory was nominated for Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media for his work on Journey at the 55th Grammy Awards back in 2013. He ultimately lost out to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross that year for their composition of the music featured in the movie The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Looking ahead, Sony will release a new PlayStation 4 compilation pack this summer that includes ThatGameCompany's Flow, Flower, and Journey (at 1080p/60fps) in one package. Journey will also be available for PS4 separately outside of the bundle.
