Get A Free Steam Game Right Now At The Humble Store
Where cyberpunk meets fantasy.
The Steam Summer Sale isn't the only way to save money on PC games at the moment. Right now you can grab a full copy of Shadowrun Returns Deluxe for free from the Humble Store. The game normally sells for $25, making this a killer deal for anyone who's interested in tactical RPGs. All you need is a Steam account and a Windows, Mac, or Linux machine capable of running it. But hurry--the deal ends Saturday, June 23.
Shadowrun Returns Deluxe is a cyberpunk-meets-fantasy game that's set in 2054, after magic has returned to the world, along with elves, trolls, orks, and dwarves. You play as a shadowrunner on the hunt for a killer in a dark, futuristic version of Seattle that's been overrun by mega-corporations.
You'll spend a lot of time tracking down leads and taking down enemies using a tactical combat system that's backed by a complex skill tree. In GameSpot's Shadowrun Returns review, we said, "Shadowrun Returns' primary depth and replay value come from its skill tree, an intimidating array of magical abilities, hacking skills, firearm aptitudes, and more. Some of Shadowrun Returns' archetypes are understandable enough. Mages fling magic around, for instance, while riggers use mechanical drones to assist them in combat. Some skills, such as those involved with 'decking,' require a bit more thought, at least for those unfamiliar with the Shadowrun universe."
The reviewer's overall impression was positive, scoring it a 7 out of 10. "Shadowrun Returns is an enjoyable role-playing game with the scent of a classic, if not the essence."
This Deluxe version comes with the game, plus the soundtrack and a PDF of illustrated short stories related to the Shadowrun universe. Not a bad bundle of goodies, especially to get for free. Just make sure to grab it before the price goes back up.
