Man the battlements, soldier--a host of madmen are en route to...arrggghhh... Registration begins at 4 p.m. Pacific on March 7 for GameSpot's Team Fortress 2 Uber Destruction tournament for the Xbox 360. The Uber Destruction tourney is open to GameSpot Total Access and Plus subscribers, and squares off 16 teams with 5 players to a side across a variety of maps, including Granary, Dustbowl, Well, and 2Fort. Matches begin Monday, March 10, at 4 p.m. Pacific, and the finals will be broadcast live on Tournament TV on March 14 at 4 p.m. Pacific.

Each member of the victorious team will receive a $250 gift card to Best Buy. In addition to being left bruised, bloodied, and utterly disgraced, the runner-up team will walk with a $150 gift card to Best Buy each. All totaled, the Uber Destruction prize package amounts to $2,000.

The Team Fortress 2 tourney is open to residents of the US and Canada (excluding Quebec) age 17 and up. Head over to the tournament page to register and get a complete rundown of the rules. Check out GameSpot's previous coverage for more on The Orange Box, Valve's award-winning first-person shooter megacompilation that includes Half-Life 2, its first two expansions, Portal, and, of course, Team Fortress 2.

Please note: The Team Fortress 2 Uber Destruction tournament was initially scheduled for Sony's PlayStation 3. However, due to certain technical issues, the tournament platform was switched the Xbox 360. PS3 gamers need not fret, however, as GameSpot plans to host tournaments on Sony's platform in the near future, with the most imminent being Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock next month. GameSpot apologizes for any inconvenience.
