Gamescom 2018: Until Dawn Dev Reveals Horror Anthology Game Series
Spooky boats.
During Gamescom 2018, Bandai Namco announced a new horror anthology series from Supermassive Games, the developer of choose-your-own horror story Until Dawn. Called The Dark Pictures Anthology, the series will consist of standalone, "branching cinematic horror" games. The first game, Man of Medan, was shown off with a trailer and featured during Microsoft's Inside Xbox presentation. You can watch it above.
Man of Medan is a supernatural horror story set in the South Pacific. Like many horror stories, it starts with friends going on vacation--in this case, they're going diving. As shown in the trailer, some of the friends mess with things they shouldn't, unearthing a curse of some sort that takes over their ship. The trailer ends with a ghostly 1940s-ish woman who's up to no good.
Like in Until Dawn, you'll be able to make decisions that shape the story in Man of Medan. This includes who lives and who dies, which is likely to create some difficult choices. Man of Medan is set to launch on Xbox One, PS4, and PC in 2019.
