Funimation Announces More Panels And Events For Virtual Anime Convention

Attack on Titan and Listeners panels added to Funimation Con 2020, along with a My Hero Academia event.

In 2020, many of the conventions were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of these shows, like Comic-Con, are now having virtual events. Funimation announced last week that it would be hosting an anime convention online and revealed a few panels. Now, the schedule for the show is starting to fill out.

The free-to-attend Funimantion Con 2020 takes place July 3-4, and the show previously revealed panels for Fruits Baskets, One Piece, and more. Now, three new panels were added for the shows Attack on Titan, Listeners, and the supernatural series Toilet-bound Hanako-kun.

In addition, there are a couple more events announced as well, one of which is the Aniplex Online Fest, which con-goers can watch and features a bunch of different content like talk shows, musical artists, and behind-the-scenes stories about the anime industy. Finally, there's an esports event, hosted by All Elite Wrestling's Kenny Omega. You'll see the cast of My Hero Academia play My Hero One's Justice 2.

Below, you'll find the newly-added panels and events to Funimation Con 2020, along with the already scheduled programming.

Additional panels:

  • Attack on Titan: This panel features voice actors Bryce Papenbrook (Eren), Trina Nishimura (Mikasa), Josh Grelle (Armin), J Michael Tatum (Erwin), Bryn Apprill (Christa), and Mike McFarland (ADR Director) and is moderated by Funimation's Josellie Rios.
  • Listeners: Exclusive Q&A with Dai Sato, the co-creator and head writer, answering questions from Funimation fans of Listeners. Voice cast of Justin Briner (Echo Rec), Bryn Apprill (Mu), Lee George (Jimi Stonefree), and Cris George (ADR Director) featured . The panel is hosted by Jacki Jing.
  • Toilet-bound Hanako-kun: Justin Briner (Hanako) and Ian Sinclair (Tsuchigomori) guide viewers through a behind the scenes look at recording from home, special messages from the cast, and an exclusive Q&A with the legendary Megumi Ogata (Hanako and Tsukasa). Additional guests include Tia Ballard (Nene), Emily Neves (Aoi), Aaron Dismuke (Natsuhiko), Tyson Rinehart (Kou), and Jād Saxton (ADR Director).

Additional events:

  • Stream Aniplex Online Fest: On July 4, The Aniplex Online Fest programming will be available for FunimationCon fans to access and enjoy as a programming track for the virtual festival. Aniplex Online Fest will feature a diverse array of online content, including talk shows with the staff and cast from popular anime, special appearances and past live shows from music artists, and behind-the-scenes stories from the anime industry.   • My Hero One's Justice 2 eSports Challenge: Powered by Esports Stadium Arlington. Connect with cast members of My Hero Academia: Justin Briner (Deku), Clifford Chapin (Bakugo), Christopher Sabat (All Might), Patrick Seitz (Endeavor), Ricco Fajardo (Mirio) and more as they recreate iconic fight scenes in the new Bandai Namco video game My Hero One's Justice 2. All Elite Wrestling's Kenny Omega hosts this event.

Previously revealed panels:

  • Fruits Basket Voice Actor Panel - English voice cast of Eric Vale (Yuki), Jerry Jewell (Kyo), Mikaela Krantz (Momiji), and Colleen Clinkenbeard (Akito), as well as Season 2's new character cast Aaron Dismuke (Kakeru) and Caitlin Glass (Machi, ADR Director) for some Q&A, a live reading, and even an advice corner courtesy of the Student Council. The panel is hosted by Caitlin Glass.
  • One Piece - English voice cast of Colleen Clinkenbeard (Luffy), Brina Palencia (Tony Chopper), Mike McFarland (Buggy the Clown) and more. Funimation’s Josellie Rios (host of the One Piece at a Time podcast) is moderating the panel.
  • Fire Force - English voice cast of Derick Snow (Shinra), Justin Briner (Sho), Eric Vale (Arthur), Christopher Wehcamp (Hinawa), and is moderated by Matt Acevedo. New season of Fire Force arrives on Funimation in July.
