Free Pokemon X/Y deal coming, retailer ad suggests
Free download of Pokemon X and Y could be coming to those who buy a 3DS XL or 2DS and a selected game.
A Toys R' Us advertisement, spotted by Go Nintendo, suggests that the retailer will be offering a promotion throughout March, where users who purchase a 3DS XL or 2DS and one of six selected games will be given a free eShop download code for Pokemon X or Y.
The six games included in the promotion are Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Yoshi's New Island, LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins, Super Mario 3D Land, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, and Mario Kart 7.
The advertisement also points out that Pokemon X and Y were the best-selling 3DS titles of 2013. It is not clear whether this deal is specific to Toys R' Us or whether it will be available across the whole of the US.
Previous promotions of this type by Nintendo require the user to register the codes on Club Nintendo in order to be eligible. GameSpot has contacted Toys R' Us and Nintendo to see if they can confirm the promotion. Nintendo told us they have nothing to share at this time, while we've yet to hear back from Toys 'R Us.
