The Pokemon Company is distributing some freebies for Pokemon Sword and Shield for a limited time. Because more than 1 million Cramorant were defeated during the games' recent Cramorant Max Raid event, all players can now claim a free item bundle until the end of the month.

As a reward for hitting the event goal, The Pokemon Company is giving away three battle items as well as a handful of Bottle Caps and Pearl Strings. The Bottle Caps are good for Hyper Training a Pokemon at the Battle Tower in Wyndon, while the Pearl Strings can be sold at a high price at shops. The full list of rewards is as follows:

  • 1 Toxic Orb
  • 1 Flame Orb
  • 1 Light Ball
  • 1 Gold Bottle Cap
  • 3 Bottle Caps
  • 3 Pearl Strings

To claim the free items, open Mystery Gift from the game's menu screen and select Receive via Internet. The items will be available to download until 3:59 PM PT / 6:59 PM ET / 11:59 PM UTC on February 28.

These aren't the only freebies available this month. To celebrate the series' 25th anniversary, The Pokemon Company will give away a special Pikachu starting February 25. This Pikachu knows Sing, a move that it can't normally learn in the mainline games.

Now that the recent Valentine's Day Max Raid event has ended, February's regular Max Raid event has resumed. Through the end of the month, certain Fighting- and Psychic-type Pokemon such as Lucario, Falinks, Gothitelle, and Reuniclus will appear in Max Raid dens more frequently than usual. On top of that, you'll be more likely to encounter Gigantamax forms of Machamp and Orbeetle.

In other Pokemon news, The Pokemon Company recently announced that the Pokemon World Championships 2021 have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This marks the second year in a row that the competition has been canceled. The World Championships are slated to return in 2022 and will be hosted in London. Pokemon cards are also available now in McDonald's Happy Meals, but adults are already ruining the promotion.
