Free PlayStation Plus PS4/PS3/Vita Games for October 2016

October's games arrive next week.

More free games are on the way for PlayStation Plus members. Sony has announced October 2016's lineup of PlayStation Plus freebies for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.

As revealed on the PlayStation Blog, these include the original Resident Evil's remastered version and Transformers: Devastation on PS4. PS3 owners get Mad Riders and From Dust, while Code: Realize -- Guardian of Rebirth and Actual Sunlight will be free for PlayStation Vita.

All of these games will go free for PlayStation Plus subscribers next Tuesday, October 4. You have until then to claim September's freebies, which include Lords of the Fallen and Journey.

The price of PlayStation Plus recently jumped from $50 to $60 for a year-long subscription. Three months will now cost $25, while the monthly plan remains the same $10 as always. In Canada, the prices are $70 CAD for 12 months, $30 CAD for three months, and $12 CAD for one month.

The only title that remotely interests me (RE Remastered) I already own. I propose an idea: Since PS+ cost $60/yr (or $5/mo), I would like to have an option made available where I could turn down the 'free' monthly games in exchange for a $5 refund to my PS wallet! How about it Sony?

That 60 dollars a year goes toward other things besides those free games. Those free games are more of a bonus for being a ps plus member, and not where the 60 dollars goes to. On top of that, what's stopping people from just getting that 5 dollar refund each month and essentially getting an entire year for free?

@Fryboy101: So you think that players should keep having to pay for a premium service that ultimately adds little/nothing to end users experience?

I mean, paying for PS+ is comparable to needing to pay for Steam from a PC users perspective. Sony's profits from online transactions alone would likely far exceed the operational costs of their entire freaking online infrastructure given how inflated the prices are.

I don't think the little guy getting one over on Sony for a change would be a bad thing in any regard.

@Kunakai: if you don't like what Sony is doing, you could always cancel your sub instead of finding ways to screw them over, because as of right now, I only see you as a hypocrite. You don't like being screwed over, yet you're more than willing to screw others over. Doesn't matter if it's a small person or a big company, hypocrisy is still hypocrisy

The company/consumer rights bit is kinda the underpinning of my point, so I can understand if you see this as hypocrisy when you can't fathom that fact. Also, me wanting to screw someone who screws me isn't hypocrisy, it's a response. Ideally neither would need to screw the other. Me wanting to screw someone but feel I should be immune to being screwed would be hypocrisy. (Though even then the entities would need to be perceived as equals, something I don't subscribe to)

Right now, I only see you as a corporate apologists (Makes dealing with my apparent hypocrisy easier I guess...)

On top of that, part of PS+ is supposed to be for multiplayer gaming, which I don't do much of, but would really like it more if it actually worked *consistently*.

@rusty12000: Who in their right mind pays $60 a year? And that $60 a year you pay is for multiplayer on Sonys servers. The games are a bonus included with the service, as is the discounts offered to plus members.

@rusty12000: We pay $60!? Pleeease, I pay between $30 1yr PS+ or less if you can find a deal with those prepaid cards at retailers and believe me, you can low prices if you look harder that is. Oh and there free. Deal with it :P

Um what's with all the positivity here? Aside from RE, all of these are horrible games.

Transformers? Terrible reviews. Made for children I guess.

From Dust? Really?

Mad Riders? Again, really?

Code:Realize? Terrible!

Actual Sunlight? It's a $5 "game" about suicide and incredibly depressing.

Normally I defend PS Plus but these offerings are abysmal.

Oh great now that my PS+ membership expired and they raised the price of PS+ they give out something actually worthwhile lol. I guess I'll get just month just to see how they do next month. If NOV games are good to then I'll go for 3 months.

I've never played any of these, but from what I'm reading, the PS4 games for this month are actually pretty good. Not great, but good. Fine with me though! It's hard to say no to free.

@jayskoon93: RE5 and 6 were more action oriented and probably the worst of the entire franchise. RE1 has tank controls (I haven't played the remastered HD version though so I could be wrong) which somehow added to the terror in places and a good few jump scares coupled with some 'puzzle' elements. A true classic of a game that deserves to be played by anyone who considers themselves a gamer.

RE4 is probably the next best in the franchise and treads a fine line between survival horror and action based gaming. It's atmospherics are perfect too giving the game a really creepy feel. If you enjoy the original you will definitely like 4 for what it is.

Is this for reals ? Are we actually getting Resident Evil remastered because we are PS Plus subscribers ? If so, i am most happy with this line up this month, actually happy as hell. I am going to have to free up space, but well worth it i'm sure.

It never came to my mind getting Resident Evil Remaster in the first place cause I still own the HD Gamecube version but since this PS4 is free to grab, how can I say no? Also I happen to be a Transformers fanboy and I been meaning to buy Transformers: Devastation and since that too is free, this is Great!!!.

Sony wins this round.
