Fortnite Teases The Return Of A Fan-Favorite Character

Midas is returning to the island.

Fortnite is once again playing coy by teasing a fan-favorite character. It appears that Midas will be returning to the island again in the near future. [Update: As expected, Fortnite's Midas has returned with a new skin and some associated quests with various rewards. The Floor is Lava mode has also returned alongside some other additions.]

The tease was posted on the official Fortnite X/Twitter account. The tweet reads, "Midas returns," alongside a picture of him walking ominously towards a door, with two dead bodies around him. It's unclear how impactful his return will be, but based on the photo, it's clear that it'll be related to the events taking place this season.

But thanks to Shiina, a well-known Fortnite content creator, we have more information on what players can expect with Midas going forward. Tomorrow's update will also include the in-game files for a range of items and events in the game, most or all of which will surely be datamined by the community, as always. According to Shiina, this includes things like a Floor is Lava mode, the return of the Drum Gun to the loot pool, the skin and other items in the next Crew Pack, and more.

For those unaware, Midas was initially introduced to Fortnite during Chapter 2: Season 2. He was the final skin that players could unlock for that battle pass. Since then, he's returned to Fortnite in various forms that could be purchased from the item shop. He was assumed dead following his attempts to break through the storm circle in Chapter 2 and has since been seen as a ghost during a Halloween event. However, the image Epic shared depicts him walking into the same glowing green light as seen all over The Underworld on the current Fortnite map, so it seems death is only temporary in the world of Fortnite.
