Five Nights At Freddy's New Film Teaser Offers Thrilling Glimpse Into Iconic Game Universe

The film adaptation of the popular horror game series Five Nights at Freddy's has gotten its first teaser trailer after years of anticipation. Set for an October 27 theatrical release--just in time for Halloween--the movie appears faithful to the original source material.

Taking place at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, the story follows a troubled security guard on his inaugural night shift, revealing the challenges of survival at Freddy's. Check out the trailer below.

Plans for a film adaptation emerged in 2015 when Warner Bros. expressed interest. Despite setbacks, Universal Studios revived the project. The teaser showcases the chilling animatronic characters that haunt players, with Josh Hutcherson (The Hunter Games) starring as the security guard.

Originally created in 2014 by Scott Cawthorn, Five Nights at Freddy's quickly gained popularity. Players navigated the treacherous halls of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, using cameras, lights, and doors to outsmart hostile animatronics. The above trailer demonstrates how those game mechanics manage to translate to the big screen surprisingly well.

Joining Hutcherson in the production are Elizabeth Lail (You), Piper Rubio (Unstable), Kat Conner Sterling (9-1-1), Mary Stuart Masterson (Blindspot), and Matthew Lillard (Scream). Jim Henson's Creature Shop contributed to the animatronic design.

Universal plans a simultaneous release on the streaming service Peacock. This is the same release strategy employed by Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, both other high-profile Blumhouse productions.
