GameSpot News has learned that Hitmaker, formerly Sega's AM3 R&D division, is currently developing the latest in the Virtua Cop series, Confidential Mission, for arcades. In the game, players assume the role of a spy agent who must intercept the terrorists' plans. Different paths are laid out depending on the result of the events you encounter. In addition to orthodox gun shooting, minigames in which you'll use a variety of spy gadgets are also featured.

Hitmaker has previously worked on popular Sega titles such as Virtua Tennis and Crazy Taxi. Virtua Cop: Confidential Mission is scheduled to appear in arcades in Japan sometime this fall. A Dreamcast version has not been announced at this point.
