Poland-based CD Projekt Red Studio has released information pertaining to the developer's first game, The Witcher. Inspired by the works of Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher is an action-oriented role-playing game in which players will assume the role of a young witcher (a professional monster slayer) traveling across areas of the Nordling Realms, visiting locations and meeting with non-player characters from Sapkowski's novels.

After creating their own witcher, players will progress through the game, controlling only that character, even when they're joined by allies in certain areas. CD Projekt Red Studio has stated that the game will include a cooperative mode of play in addition to a single-player mode, although no specific details are available at this time. Players will gain access to a number of different weapons as they make their way through Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy world, including swords, daggers, sabers, axes, hammers, maces, crossbows, and various magic spells.

Further information on The Witcher is scarce at present, in part because none of Andrzej Sapkowski's novels have been translated into English to date. No release date or publisher for The Witcher has been confirmed at this time, but we'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
