LucasArts has announced Star Wars Racer Revenge: Racer II for the Sony PlayStation 2. The game is a pseudo-sequel to Star Wars: Episode I Racer, which was originally released on the Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color, and the PC. In Racer Revenge, Sebulba and Anakin Skywalker renew their rivalry, as Sebulba returns with a beefed-up new racer and Anakin has grown into a world-class podracer pilot. The game will introduce several new characters and podracers--there will be over sixteen racers in all. Additionally, the game's AI will be significantly improved compared to the original, as players will have to jockey for position while racing at over 600mph.

Racer Revenge will feature eighteen courses on five new and familiar planets. The game will feature free-play, tournament, time trials, and versus play modes. Racer Revenge is being developed by Rainbow Studios, makers of Motocross Madness and ATV Off-Road Fury, and will be released for the PS2 in Q1 2002. GameSpot will have more on the game from the upcoming E3 in Los Angeles.
