New Warsaw-based developer City Interactive, which has been formed by members of the teams previously responsible for such games as Project Earth and The Aces of World War I at Lemon Interactive, has today released the first information on Smash Up Derby. The Destruction Derby-style racing game will feature around 20 different cars, each capable of reaching speeds of up to 180mph as they smash their way around 28 different circuits ranging from rallies and cross-country tracks to raceways and parking lots.

The cars in the game will be constructed of 10 different materials and, as a result, will sustain realistic damage as a result of collisions with opponents or with the numerous obstacles that will litter every track. Smash Up Derby will feature numerous graphical effects such as skid marks, sparks, and flares, and will support up to eight players either across the Internet or a LAN.

Smash Up Derby is currently scheduled for release in Europe in the spring but no North American release has been confirmed at this time. We’ll bring you more information on Smash Up Derby as soon as it becomes available.
