Activision has released the first in-game shots from Doom II on the Game Boy Advance. The game, like Doom before it, will be as close a port of the 2539987PC version released in 1994 as is possible on the GBA.

In the first two Doom games, players assume the role of a space marine charged with saving the world by killing wave after wave of alien monsters on the colonized planet Phobos. The rest of the human population has already been obliterated by the time the game begins, but fortunately there are plenty of great weapons--including shotguns, rocket launchers, plasma rifles, and Doom favorites the chainsaw and BFG-9000--lying around the colony, just waiting to be put to good use. We'll post more information about the GBA version of Doom II as it becomes available. In the meantime, check out our coverage of Doom , which is currently in development for the PC.
