First Gameplay For Sci-Fi Adventure The Alters Revealed, Day-One Game Pass Confirmed

During today's Xbox Partner Preview, 11 Bit Studios unveiled the first gameplay trailer for The Alters, a sci-fi survival game that focuses heavily on player choice. The studio also announced that the game will be available on both PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass at launch later this year.

The Alters stars Jan Dolski, a space explorer who crash lands on a hostile planet and finds himself alone on a space station that requires a full crew to operate. Soon, he finds a new and rare substance called Rapidium, which allows him to create alternate versions of himself based on choices he'd made previously in his life, and then he must work with these new versions of himself in order to survive.

Players will team with the Alters to mine for resources that will be used to maintain the station, craft items needed to survive, and more throughout the adventure. Each created Alter effectively becomes a new NPC in the world, with their own thoughts, feelings, and ambitions, and players will have to navigate those personalities during the game as well.

The Alters is the latest from 11 Bit Studios, the studio behind indie hits This War Of Mine, Anomaly: Endzone Earth, and Frostpunk. The studio is also working on Frostpunk 2, which is also set to launch sometime in 2024.

The Alters will release later this year for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
