Final Fantasy 15 Movie Expands to These 9 Cities

The Final Fantasy XV movie, Kingsglaive, opened in select theaters earlier this month. For its initial debut, it played at 24 theaters across the country. Most of the major cities were covered, but now, the CG film is expanding its reach to nine new cities in the United States.

New markets include Phoenix, Philadelphia, Detroit, Minneapolis, Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Columbus, and Denver. Additionally, a tweet from the Kingsglaive account mentions that the film's run in select cities has been extended a week, though it didn't name these markets specifically. Check out the chart below to see all the theaters in the US where Kingsglaive is playing. Note that the movie will open at the Alamo Drafthouse Littleton in Littleton, Colorado on September 9.

Kingsglaive features the voices of Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings, The Island), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad, Need for Speed), and Lena Headey (Game of Thrones). You can watch a clip from the film here.

The film will be available through digital channels on August 30, while the Blu-ray/DVD version will arrive on October 4. Here is the official plot synopsis:

"The magical kingdom of Lucis is home to the sacred Crystal, and the menacing empire of Niflheim is determined to steal it. King Regis of Lucis (Sean Bean) commands an elite force of soldiers called the Kingsglaive. Wielding their king's magic, Nyx (Aaron Paul) and his fellow soldiers fight to protect Lucis. As the overwhelming military might of the empire bears down, King Regis is faced with an impossible ultimatum--to marry his son, Prince Noctis, to Princess Lunafreya of Tenebrae (Lena Headey), captive of Niflheim, and surrender his lands to the empire's rule. Although the king concedes, it becomes clear that the empire will stop at nothing to achieve their devious goals, with only the Kingsglaive standing between them and world domination."

GameSpot's Kingsglaive review praised the movie for being an "exemplary work."

"The casting is on point, and the visuals are sharp and spectacular," critic Alexa Ray Corriea said. "As a film, audiences may have some problem chewing on what's essentially a beautiful story dump ahead of Final Fantasy XV's release. But as a Final Fantasy film, it's a tribute to all who have touched this series and who have been touched by it--a labor of love for the fans who ask for more from their stories. The power and the praise that Kingsglaive lends XV's team is well-deserved indeed."

As for Final Fantasy XV, the long-in-development game is slated to arrive on November 29. The game was originally scheduled to come out in September but was recently delayed.
