Fifty Shades' Jamie Dornan Joins New Robin Hood Movie - Report

The Christian Grey actor will reportedly play Robin Hood's half-brother, Will Scarlet.

Jamie Dornan, who played Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey and will reprise the role for Fifty Shades Darker, is reportedly in talks to play Will Scarlet in the upcoming Robin Hood: Origins. This is according to a report today from Variety, which cites the information to unspecified sources.

The movie is in development at Hunger Games studio Lionsgate and will be directed by Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders). The story will tell the familiar tale of a group of outlaws fighting corruption after Robin Hood, played by Taron Egerton, returns from the Crusades.

Scarlet is Robin Hood's half-brother and a member of Little John's Merry Men. Eve Hewson is set to play Maid Marian with Jamie Foxx in the role of Little John.

The story of Robin Hood has been told numerous times in film. Most recently, Russell Crowe played the character for 2010's Ridley Scott-directed Robin Hood. Kevin Costner also played the character, for 1991's Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Leonardo DiCaprio will produce Robin Hood: Origins through his Appian Way banner.

Dornan appeared in World War II movie Anthropoid and horror film The 9th life of Louis Drax this year, while he is also a star on the BBC drama The Fall.
