FIFA 17 Cover Vote Starts Today

You have the option of voting for one of four footballers for this year's FIFA cover.

Lionel Messi has been FIFA's main cover star for four years, but this time, the box won't feature him at all. FIFA 17's cover vote begins today, giving you four options to choose from: Manchester United's Anthony Martial, Real Madrid's James Rodriguez, Chelsea's Eden Hazard, and Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus.

There are several ways you can vote for a cover athlete. You can start by going to the official website, where you'll be able to choose which of the four soccer players should grace FIFA 17's box art. Once you've chosen who you want to vote for, you can then earn extra votes by sharing your vote on social media. Additionally, you can earn FIFA Ultimate Team items and card packs as you get more votes.

Now Playing: FIFA 17 - Cover Vote Trailer

"James, Martial, Hazard, and Reus represent exciting, attacking football and epitomize the innovative play that fans can expect in FIFA 17," EA Sports senior producer Nick Channon said. "We're excited to see fans rally around their favorite players and see who they select as the cover star for the franchise and the footballer who will represent FIFA 17 globally."

The vote lasts until July 19, while a winner will be revealed later in the month.

FIFA 17 releases for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on September 27. The PS3 and 360 versions won't come with all of this year's features, however, as last-gen console players won't get to experience the new story mode.

EA Sports titles normally holds votes to determine its cover athletes. NHL 17's cover will be adorned with St. Louis Blues winger Vladimir Tarasenko. However, Madden 17 decided to skip the cover vote this year and named New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski its star.

"With this election year upon us, we don't want you to lose sleep over another big decision," EA said about the lack of a cover vote. "So, we decided to take the pressure off this year and hand-select someone for the job."

Isn't much of an option I thought, then I realised Messi is going to jail and Ronaldo is on the downward then why not? My vote is for Martial.

@csward: Nobodies, that's why EA has no idea who is going to get paid the endorsement money.

They gonna pick the least nobody of the four nobodies and give him the money, but they need our help cause they have no idea who is least unknown.

@ltjohnnyrico: Chelsea yes, but never heard of Borussia Dortmund, and even Chelsea is very vaguely known.

Lets face it only soccer fans will know Chelsea and Borussia whatever the fck.

Normal people know Manchester United, Real Madrid, Arsenal, FC Barcelona, etc.

@kazeswen: Its Football !! and you don't have to be a fan to have heard of those teams, 2 of the bigger teams in Europe/the world of football !! Dortmund is a city in Germany !

@ltjohnnyrico: I'm not a SOCCER fan, I've never in my life heard of any of these guys, nor have ever heard of Dortmund or Borussia or whatever the hell. I only heard of Chelsea from playing Fifa games.

So, no these dudes are nobodies, you'd think if they were actually famous, EA would need to hold a public vote on who to make their spokesperson? Did they hold a vote on Messi? Did PES hold a vote on Ronaldo?

Have you ever heard of Canelo, Kahn or Golovkin? No, right, cause they are nobodies. Even they are the biggest boxers in the sport right now, they are still nobodies to the world. Same with these guys

@kazeswen: Have I heard of "Canelo, Kahn or Golovkin" ? .. Short answer is Yes not No!! Also Kahn was a German Goalkeeper (Football) .. do you mean Khan ? and if you mean Amir I've seen him fight live a few times ... and no he is not one of the biggest names in boxing ! Prescott fight showed that he can't take the big hits !!

But even if you haven't heard of the football teams .. Chelsea and Dortmund are still places !

@ltjohnnyrico: You must be a big sports fan to have heard of Canelo, Khan and Golovkin, then, sadly most people are not as dedicated to sports as you are. I only know them cause I'm an avid boxing fan, but 99% of my friends have no clue who they are. Considering that the best of the three Canelo, lost badly to Mayweather a while back, when the best of a sport is a loser, than there is really not much you can do with them.

Like I said, I've heard of Chelsea both the place and the club, but never Dortmund, and I really have no clue who any of these four young gentlemen are, sadly, I'd not a big soccer fan to know them.

But I do know the face of PES, Neymar. A star is a star, and Neymar is a star.

I think Fifa really found themselves in a bad position right now. Their top man Messi is a convicted tax cheat, so they can't use him anymore, and the next best man Neymar is already signed to PES, so they are now stuck looking for a new spokesperson, almongst a sea of unknown players. I feel for Fifa, they got screwed, they can't use Ronaldo cause Ronaldo is the face of PES, they can't use Neymar cause he's also the face of PES, there are not that many good looking soccer players.

Some players are good and well know but are too ugly to be the spokesperson, like Mesut Ozil, who I would say is a lot more famous than any of these guys, but the man looks like a retard. So, here we are. Good looking famous people are few and far between.

P.S Canelo already proved that Khan can't take a punch, we didn't need Prescott, and Prescott is another fighter that nobody gives shit a about.

@kazeswen: I do love Sports, Football, Boxing and Motorsport mostly. Hazard last year and Ozil this year were probably the players of the (respective) season for their respective clubs. Prescott beat Khan back in 2008 we knew back then he can't fight big hitters and that all Prescott really had !

@ltjohnnyrico: Yeah, but Prescott was seen as a lucky punch, they were talking Prescott Khan 2, up until Khan got floored by Canelo. So, it was really Canelo that proved Khan got no chin once and for all.

Its sad that the biggest thing in boxing is a guy who got wupped badly by an aging Mayweather, such a digression of the sport. Canelo isn't fit to wipe Mayweather or Pacquiao's shoes in their prime, and yet in a era of losers, the best loser wins.

The problem with FIFA looking for a spokesperson is that all the good looking famous guys are already taken by PES, which leaves them with ugly semi-famous guy like Ozil or guys that are not famous at all. Kinda sad for FIFA, cause honestly I don't see any of these guys being good spokesperson for the game. If you're a casual sports fan, are you gonna buy the game with Neymar on the cover (PES) or the game with some dude you've never seen in your life?

Konami should be thanking their lucky stars right about now.

@kazeswen: Those that play Fifa know the sport know the Players I'm looking forward to FIFA 17 .. got 16 but interesting to see what its like with Frostbite !

Prescott's was no lucky Punch .. He look better prepared, maybe now its a different fight but back then there was only one winner !!

@ltjohnnyrico: Yeah, but Fifa fans like you are already gonna buy the game regardless of who the hell is on the cover. They already have your money, they can put Jean Claud Van Damme on the cover and you will still buy the game.

The spokesperson is designed to attract casual sports fans like myself, and other gamers. People who don't really care about the sport but would buy a game based on what they see on the box cover. If you see Neymar on PES and you see some random dude on Fifa, you're more likely gonna get PES.

@ltjohnnyrico: A lot of people do. Casual gamers don't bother with reviews, they don't have the time or care.

Why do you think Fifa is spending money every year on spokesperson deals for the games.

Like I said, you're not the target for the cover art, you would have bought FIfa 17 if it had fat ass Steven Segal wearing a santa clause costume on the cover. Don't tell me you wouldn't

@kazeswen: I don't read reviews I usually make up my own mind .. if its not a new IP il base the decision on previous Games. I think buying a Game because the box looks nice is strange !

Id buy Fifa if it just said Fifa .. I buy Digital so a box doesn't really appeal to me anyway !

@ltjohnnyrico: Then you are definitely not the target market for these spokesperson deals.

Personally, I have bought games for the box art before. If a box art looks boring then I'm not gonna look into it any further.

Hell I bought tons of Vita games because the box art had cute girls in skimpy dresses on the cover, some of them I've never even played since.

Doesnt matter Im more impressed with PES and cover star Neymar. That game had the better gameplay last year and found it way fun over fifa for the first time in 2 years. Konami stated they are improving the gameplay while EA are focusing on so called "story type" of mode. Ill take gameplay any day of the week so PES gets the money this year again
