Ezio, Altair, And More Magic: The Gathering Cards Revealed For New Assassin's Creed Set

The preview panel at MagicCon revealed cards for Ezio, Altair, and more.

MagicCon: Chicago--the latest Wizards Of The Coast's Magic: The Gathering-themed convention--kicked off today, and at the traditional day one preview panel, Wizards Of The Coast showed off new cards for multiple sets due to launch in 2024. One of them is a collaboration with Assassin's Creed, and we got a first look at Ezio, Altair, and more.

Multiple cards were revealed featuring characters from Ubisoft's stealth-action franchise, with Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Altair Ibn-La'Ahad, and Eivor from Assassin's Creed Valhalla among them. The set will also feature cards based on the game's interpretations of real-world historical figures, with Cleopatra and Leonardo da Vinci shown as examples.

Other cards revealed include the Animus, which is used to travel back in time and re-live the life of the Assassins, and the Hidden Blade, an Assassin's favorite weapon. The panel also revealed a card called Haystack, a reference to an Assassin's favorite hiding spot.

The MagicCon preview panel also showed cards for three other sets: Bloomburrow, which is a fantasy-themed set centered around woodland creatures; Modern Horizons 3, the third in a series of expansions focused on the Modern format; and Outlaws At Thunder Junction, a spaghetti-Western-styled set with cowboys, bandits, and more.

Assassin's Creed is the next collaboration between Magic: The Gathering and a prominent video game franchise. It follows Fallout, which launches on March 8, with a major "tentpole expansion" featuring the Final Fantasy franchise to come in 2025.

Magic: The Gathering's Assassin's Creed expansion launches in July at local game stores. Cards will be available in a new "Beyond Booster" pack, collector boosters, bundles, and a new starter kit featuring Ezio and Eivor.
