Super Rude Bear Resurrection, a challenging platformer in the vein of Super Meat Boy, finally has a release date.

Developer Alex Rose Games today announced that Super Rude Bear is slated to arrive for PS4 on May 2 and for PC (through Steam) on May 5. It'll cost $15 / £12 / €15 on both platforms. An Xbox One version of the game is also in development but has not yet been dated.

While undeniably similar in some regards to Super Meat Boy, which served as inspiration for the game, it features one especially notable distinction: Whenever you die, you respawn at the most recent checkpoint and your corpse persists. That body can then be used to protect you from hazards, be it a set of spikes or an arrow, essentially allowing your deaths to progressively make the game easier.

I had the opportunity to play the game at PAX East, and while it's enjoyable to play around with how a huge pile of corpses can modify a level, making it through a level untouched is thrilling. It has some fantastic boss fights, too, at least one of which you can briefly see in the trailer above.
