Evil Dead: The Game Canceled For Switch, No Future Content Planned For All Platforms

Developer Saber Interactive has announced that Evil Dead: The Game will not have any more new content and the Nintendo Switch version of the game has been canceled.

"Today we have made the decision not to pursue the development of new content for Evil Dead: The Game," the studio explained on Twitter. "We also confirm that we will not be releasing a Nintendo Switch version of the game."

However, Saber said that it will keep the game's servers online for the foreseeable future and will also address any major issues if they pop up.

Evil Dead: The Game was first announced at the 2020 Game Awards with a trailer featuring Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams himself. It was slated to be released in 2021 but was delayed. The game launched on May 13, 2022, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

It received post-launch support in the form of the Splatter Royale and Army of Darkness updates as well as a Game of the Year Edition on consoles.

In GameSpot's Evil Dead: The Game review, we said, "Evil Dead: The Game is faithful, but sometimes to a fault. If there were more game modes or even more varied objectives in its one attractive game mode, it would feel more like a game for horror fans to play for a long time, maybe even moving competitors like Dead By Daylight or Hunt Showdown off their vaunted pedestals."
