Electronic Arts to launch Star Wars Galaxies in Japan

Fully localized Japanese version of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game to debut with Jump to Lightspeed expansion in December.

LucasArts announced that it has entered into an agreement with Electronic Arts Japan to launch its massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars Galaxies in Japan this December. The PC game will launch with a Japanese version of the upcoming expansion Jump to Lightspeed this December.

Under the agreement, LucasArts will fully localize the game for the Japanese market, and EA Japan will handle operations, hosting, maintenance, and customer support. Basic information can be found at EA Japan's Web site.

Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided was released in North America in July 2003. The Jump to Lightspeed expansion, which will launch is the US this October, adds space exploration and player-owned ships. For more on the expansion, see GameSpot's recent preview.
